The White House has responded to questions regarding President Donald Trump’s past connections with Jeffrey Epstein. The administration has also expressed full support for Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick.
Press Secretary Carolyn Levitt stated that Trump distanced himself from Epstein long ago. “The President has always stood by his statement. He removed Jeffrey Epstein from his Mar-a-Lago club because, frankly, Epstein’s behavior was not appropriate,” she said.
Levitt added that Trump had completely severed ties with Epstein years ago and has been open and clear about it for a long time.
Recently, new documents surfaced mentioning an alleged conversation between Trump and the Palm Beach Police Chief in the early 2000s. Levitt remarked that it was a phone call that may or may not have happened, and she did not have definitive information on it. She reiterated that Trump had expelled Epstein from his club, a fact that remains true today.
Levitt also referenced the public release of over 3 million documents related to Epstein and his serious crimes, indicating the President and his administration’s commitment to transparency and bringing the truth to light.
When asked if Trump would consider pardoning Ghislaine Maxwell, Levitt stated that there are currently no such plans. She noted that the last time this topic was discussed, Trump had indicated he was not considering it.
Questions were also raised about Secretary Lutnick, who acknowledged his past connections with Epstein during testimony on Capitol Hill. Levitt affirmed that Lutnick is a crucial member of the President’s team and that the President fully supports him.
Following this, Levitt highlighted the administration’s achievements, mentioning that the Dow Index surpassed the 50,000 mark for the first time on Friday. She also referenced a federal appeals court ruling that justified the administration’s detention policy for migrants, stating, “For the ninth consecutive month, there have been no illegal border crossings at the southern border.”
Jeffrey Epstein was a financier accused of sex trafficking, who died in federal custody in 2019. Ghislaine Maxwell was later convicted in connection with sex trafficking cases. Epstein’s case has remained in the spotlight due to his connections with several prominent and influential individuals.
The administration claims that the release of documents is part of its transparency policy, while critics continue to seek clarity regarding past connections and decisions involving the individuals named in these documents.
