WhatsApp introduces new chat filters to organize your messages. The new update makes it easier for users to find the most important conversations without having to scroll through the entire chat list.

WhatsApp’s chat filtering feature works like Google’s Gmail and offers three filtering options to help you channel your messages more effectively. It will appear at the top of your chat list. Chat filters are currently rolling out and all WhatsApp users will receive them in the coming weeks.
The instant messaging app WhatsApp, which belongs to Meta, announced the introduction of chat filters in a blog post on Tuesday (April 16). The purpose of this new feature is to give users the ability to view all of their unread chats at once.
As mentioned, this update allows users to choose from three different filters: All, Unread, and Groups. These options appear at the top of the chat list.
“All” is the default view, but “Unread” shows messages that have been marked as unread by the user or have not yet been opened. Tap Groups to view group chats and forum subgroups.
Chat filters are a useful feature for WhatsApp users who have difficulty replying to unread messages from multiple senders. WhatsApp has confirmed that the filtering options are rolling out and will be available to all users in the coming weeks.
This update was previously seen in WhatsApp Beta for Android 2.22.16.14. Gmail also introduced a similar feature in 2020.
The new WhatsApp chat filters are part of Meta’s ongoing efforts to improve the user experience on the platform. In early December, the social media giant announced Sticky Messages to highlight specific messages in ongoing one-on-one and group conversations.
We’ve also introduced the View Once option for voice messages. Likewise, we introduced a new bottom navigation bar for Android earlier this year.
