New Delhi, July 30: Union Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports, Mansukh Mandaviya, has urged the youth of the nation to participate in the upcoming drug de-addiction campaign aimed at building a developed India.
In a video shared on social media, Mandaviya called on young people to join Prime Minister Narendra Modi in this initiative. He stated, “It is time for the youth to walk alongside Prime Minister Modi. The Prime Minister will launch the Drug-Free Youth Campaign for a Developed India on August 2.”
The campaign aims to gather over one crore youth at more than 10,000 locations across the country, pledging to create a drug-free India. Mandaviya encouraged all young people to visit the ‘My India’ portal and join the drug-free India page to contribute to this cause.
Prime Minister Modi will kick off this nationwide awareness campaign, which will run for 100 weeks, with the goal of establishing a significant movement against drug abuse in the country. The initiative will include walkathons, sports competitions, street plays, meditation sessions, and awareness programs at various locations. Schools, colleges, universities, youth clubs, NGOs, and over 125 spiritual organizations are expected to participate, with the involvement of more than one crore youth.
The campaign will focus on combating the use and illegal trade of substances such as cannabis, heroin, opium, charas, cocaine, MDMA (ecstasy), methamphetamine (ice), narcotic pills, codeine-based cough syrup, and other psychotropic drugs on a national level.
