Lucknow | May 14, 2025 – The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a weather alert for 14 districts in Uttar Pradesh, warning of rainfall and lightning, while 19 districts remain under a heatwave advisory. After a brief respite due to scattered rainfall and hailstorms, temperatures are once again on the rise across the state.

On Tuesday, Banda emerged as the hottest location, registering a maximum temperature of 43.4°C, while Barabanki recorded the lowest minimum at 24°C. According to IMD scientist Atul Kumar Singh, temperatures across the state have risen steadily over the last 48 hours and are expected to increase by another 2–4°C in the next 4–5 days.

In Agra, strong winds around 4 PM uprooted temporary structures, followed by light drizzle.
-
Ghaziabad saw a sudden change in weather around 5:30 PM, with winds blowing at 25–30 km/h accompanied by light rain.

The IMD has warned of “warm nights” in eastern Uttar Pradesh for the next two days, adding to the discomfort caused by the heat.
Rainfall Expected in Terai Region (May 16–20)
Meteorologists have identified the development of a cyclonic circulation over UP’s Terai belt, expected to influence weather from May 16 to 20. During this period, light rain and gusty winds are likely to affect several districts in the northern plains, bringing temporary relief from the heat.
Heatwave Continues in 10+ Districts
Ten districts recorded temperatures above 40°C, with several expected to enter heatwave conditions over the next few days. The combination of high day temperatures and uncomfortable nights raises concerns for public health, especially for the elderly and outdoor workers.
