Two Men Electrocuted While Attempting to Steal High-Tension Power Line in Udaipur

Udaipur, Sept 10 (Kiran News): Two men were killed after being electrocuted while allegedly attempting to steal a 33 kV high-tension power line in Paner village under Saira police station area of Udaipur district late Tuesday night.

According to officials, the incident occurred around 2 am on Tuesday, when power supply in the village suddenly went off. By Wednesday morning, villagers informed the electricity department as supply had not been restored. A team sent to locate the fault discovered broken wires and the charred bodies of two men lying in a nearby field.

Police Investigation

Saira Station House Officer (SHO) Kishore Singh Shaktawat said the bodies were found nearly 100 metres apart in the field, along with wooden tools and sharp-edged instruments suspected to have been used to cut the wires.

“Preliminary investigation suggests the men were attempting to steal the wire when they came in contact with the live line and died on the spot,” the SHO said.

The bodies have not yet been identified and have been kept at the Saira hospital mortuary.

Teams on the Ground

Following the discovery, police and electricity department teams reached the spot and began further investigation. Authorities believe it was clearly an attempted theft that resulted in the fatal electrocution.
