Three Dead After Bus and Car Plunge into Gorge in Madhya Pradesh’s Bhairughat

Indore, November 4 (Udaipur Kiran): Three people, including two women, were killed and several others injured when a passenger bus collided with a speeding car and fell into a deep gorge in Bhairughat area of Mhow, Indore district, on Monday night.

According to officials, the accident occurred around 9:40 pm near Simrod when a bus returning from Omkareshwar to Indore collided head-on with a car. The impact caused both vehicles to fall into the gorge. Around 40 passengers were on board the bus at the time. Eyewitnesses alleged that the bus driver was under the influence of alcohol.

As soon as information was received, police and local administration teams rushed to the site and launched rescue operations with the help of local residents. Many passengers were rescued by breaking the bus windows. Around 30 people were safely pulled out, while 13 sustained injuries and were taken to MY Hospital in Indore and the Civil Hospital in Mhow.

Additional SP Rupesh Dwivedi said that the deceased were identified as Padma Bai (45), a resident of Tilak Nagar Indore; Rahul (25), son of Ajay from Deoria, Uttar Pradesh; and Anita (40), wife of Ashok Rao from New Gauri Nagar Indore.

Indore Collector Shivam Verma immediately sent the SDM to the site and ensured that all injured passengers were shifted to hospitals. He has also ordered an investigation into the cause of the accident.

Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav expressed grief over the tragedy and announced an ex-gratia of ₹2 lakh each for the families of the deceased from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund. He also directed that treatment for all the injured be provided free of cost.
