
Udaipur : Tension gripped a locality in Chittorgarh, Rajasthan, as a religious procession turned violent, leading to stone pelting on Tuesday night, leaving around a dozen people injured.
Tragically, a man, identified as Shyam Lal Chhipa, passed away after receiving initial treatment, reportedly due to a heart attack.
The clash erupted in the Raashmi police station area when some individuals objected to the procession passing near a mosque, leading to stone-pelting and injuries.
Collector Alok Ranjan confirmed the incident and mentioned that the injured received immediate medical attention.
Superintendent Sudheer Joshi informed that 18 individuals have been detained in connection with the incident and are under interrogation. To ensure peace, additional police personnel have been deployed in the area. The situation remains tense as authorities work to maintain order in the community.
