Student Stabbing Sparks Riots in Udaipur

Udaipur, (Udaipur Kiran): A tense situation has gripped Udaipur after a Class 10 student stabbed his classmate at a government school in the Chattiyani Chauhatta area on Friday morning. The incident triggered widespread protests and violence, leading to the suspension of internet services for 24 hours from 10 pm on Friday.

The Incident A heated argument between two Class 10 students, belonging to different religions, escalated when one student stabbed the other multiple times. The injured student was rushed to MB Hospital where his condition remains critical.

Violence Erupts Following the incident, angry mobs took to the streets, vandalizing property, setting vehicles on fire, and pelting stones. Several vehicles, including those parked at a garage near Gumaniya Petrol Pump in Panchwati, were set ablaze. The fire brigade was called to the scene to control the situation.

Section 144 Imposed Given the deteriorating law and order situation, Collector Arvind Poswal imposed Section 144 (Section 163 of the new law) in the city. He appealed to the people to maintain peace and ordered strict action against those trying to disrupt the peace.

Internet Suspended, Additional Forces Deployed To prevent the spread of misinformation and control the situation, internet services were suspended for 24 hours. Additionally, the state government has deployed five RAC companies, along with additional police officers from neighboring districts, to maintain law and order.

Hindu Organizations Call for Bandh Hindu organizations called for a bandh, leading to the closure of shops in several areas, including Chetak Circle, Hathipol, Ashwini Bazaar, Bapu Bazaar, and Ghantaghar.

Government Response Home Minister Jawahar Singh Bedam has instructed the Superintendent of Police, Udaipur, to maintain peace and order and take strict action against those involved in the violence.
