Stock Market Opens Higher; Sensex and Nifty Gain in Early Trade

New Delhi, October 27 (Udaipur Kiran): Domestic equity markets started the week on a positive note, showing strength in early trading on Monday. After a mildly positive opening, both the Sensex and Nifty extended their gains on the back of fresh buying across key sectors.

After the first hour of trading, the Sensex was up 0.68%, while the Nifty gained 0.65%.

Among heavyweight stocks, SBI Life Insurance, Reliance Industries, Bharti Airtel, Tata Steel, and Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Ltd (TMPV) were leading the rally, rising between 1.34% and 3.20%. On the other hand, Infosys, Kotak Mahindra Bank, Bharat Electronics, Bajaj Finance, and ONGC traded in the red, slipping between 0.73% and 0.92%.

By 10:15 a.m., around 2,626 stocks were actively traded on the market — 1,672 in the green and 954 in the red. Out of the 30 Sensex-listed stocks, 22 were trading higher, while 8 remained under selling pressure. Similarly, in the Nifty index, 36 stocks were in positive territory, and 14 were in decline.

The BSE Sensex opened 85.51 points higher at 84,297.39, but strong buying pushed it further up. Despite intermittent profit-booking, the index maintained its upward momentum. By 10:15 a.m., the Sensex was trading 570.06 points higher at 84,781.94.

Following a similar trend, the NSE Nifty opened with a 48.05-point gain at 25,843.20. Sustained buying drove it higher, and after an hour of trading, it was up 168.40 points, trading at 25,963.55.

On Friday, the last trading session of the previous week, markets had ended lower — with the Sensex falling 344.52 points (0.41%) to 84,211.88 and the Nifty slipping 96.25 points (0.37%) to close at 25,795.15.
