Bijapur, 13 November (Udaipur Kiran). Security forces in Chhattisgarh’s Bijapur district have eliminated six notorious Maoists during a major encounter inside the dense forests of the National Park area. The operation was launched jointly by DRG Bijapur, DRG Dantewada and STF based on specific intelligence inputs. Intermittent firing began on the morning of 11 November, eventually resulting in the killing of all six Maoists.

The slain Maoists collectively carried a bounty of ₹27 lakh. The encounter took place in the Kandulnar–Kachlarm forests, considered a significant setback for the Maoist stronghold in the West and South Bastar divisions.
One of the deceased was identified as DVCM Kanna alias Buchanna, carrying an ₹8 lakh reward. He was the Maddded Area Committee in-charge and wanted in 42 cases, including camp attacks, civilian killings, IED blasts, bus burning, loot and the murder of teachers. Another, DVCM Urmila (₹8 lakh reward), wife of Paparao and secretary of the Pamed Area Committee, handled the PLGA battalion’s supply chain and threatened villagers for recruitment. The third, ACM Jagat Tamo alias Motu (₹5 lakh reward), was a member of the Maddded Area Committee.
Others killed were Deve (₹2 lakh reward), Pamed Area Committee member; Bhagat (₹2 lakh reward), Maddded Area Committee member; and Mangli Oyam (₹2 lakh reward), a female party member.
Security forces recovered a large cache of weapons, including two INSAS rifles (five magazines, 68 rounds), one carbine (three magazines, 22 rounds), one .303 rifle (13 rounds), one single-shot rifle, one 12-bore gun, grenades and explosives. Radios, Maoist literature, uniforms and medicines were also seized.
Superintendent of Police Dr Jitendra Yadav said that in 2025, a total of 144 Maoists have been killed in the district, 499 have been arrested and 560 have surrendered. Since January 2024, 202 Maoists have been neutralised, 1,002 arrested and 749 have surrendered.
