Washington, December 14 (Udaipur Kiran) – A shooting at Brown University in Rhode Island, USA, during examination hours has left at least two people dead and eight others injured. The police confirmed that the suspect fled the scene and is currently being searched for.
According to CBS News, the incident occurred on Saturday afternoon. Providence Mayor Brett Smiley stated at an evening press conference that the shooting took place shortly after 4 PM local time inside the Barus and Holley Engineering Building.
Mayor Smiley confirmed that two people have died, and eight victims were critically injured and taken to Rhode Island Hospital. He also mentioned that the death toll might rise. No arrests have been made so far. Providence Deputy Police Chief Tim O’Hara said no weapon was recovered from the site. Witnesses described the suspect only as a man dressed in black.
Initially, the university’s security services reported that a suspect had been taken into custody but later retracted this statement. Former President Donald Trump posted on Truth Social that he had been informed about the shooting and expressed his condolences to the grieving families.
