With the launch of the new scrambler bike, Royal Enfield is gearing up to expand its range of 650cc motorcycles. The motorcycle is based on the Interceptor 650, the most popular 650cc motorcycle in the brand’s range. The production version of this new motorcycle is expected to be called the Interceptor Bear 650. Royal Enfield is expected to launch the Interceptor Bear in the Motorverse later this year.
The company has filed a design patent for the Interceptor Bear 650 and it has been announced that the motorcycle will share a chassis with the Interceptor 650. However, a different spring with greater travel is used at the rear and an upside-down fork is used at the front. . Royal Enfield could bring in Showa to refine the suspension. This motorcycle works as a scrambler on spoked wheels with multi-purpose tires.
The LED headlight is adopted from other 650cc motorcycles. The lighting is not optimal at night and the indicators are LED and have the same design as the Himalayan 450. However, the Baer 650 has round LED taillights, while the Himalayan 450’s taillights are integrated into the indicators. The body is minimalist, with new side panels on the sides.
The Interceptor Bear 650 is powered by the same 648cc oil-cooled parallel twin engine with a 270-degree crankshaft. The maximum power is around 47 hp and the maximum torque is 52 Nm. It is mated to a 6-speed gearbox with smooth shifts. Royal Enfield may use a different size gearbox on the Bear 650. There’s also a new single-ended exhaust, which may take away some of the dual exhaust, but the single-ended unit should be significantly lighter. The dual exhaust currently weighs around 10 kg.
