Refurbishing Aanganbadis to reduce IMR in Banswara

Udaipur : Shocked by the terrifying figures of infant mortality at the civil hospital, district administration at Banswara has taken up a special campaign to revamp and empower Anganbadis of the district. Banswara has been placed on the high priority list after 90 infant death cases reported in past 2 months. As per a survey, the infant mortality rate in Banswara is 36 per 1000 live births while child death rate is 57 per 1000 births. 

“Anganbadi empowerment program has been launched from October 24 to ensure that the institutions serves well the purpose for which they have been incepted. There are over 2000 aanganbadi kendras in the district and we have selected 85 kendras for the special campaign” collector Bhagwati  Prasad said. Of the 91 sanctioned posts, presently 85 lady supervisors (LS) are working who havebeen assigned the task of Anganbadi revamp. These workers have been directed to spend the entire day at one kendra each and have to superivise the functioning properly.


With the help of ASHA workers The LSs have been given to-do and a check list which they are required to report at the end of the day on a regular basis, the collector said. These workers have been asked to ensure that the pre-schooling material, food stock are being properly maintained, informations and schemes of the Woman and Child Development department are carried out properly. The aanganbadi buildings are also being reconditioned with the help of local residents.
