Project on Udaipur–Pindwara Route to Be Redesigned After Villagers’ Objection: MP Dr. Rawat

Udaipur, October 27 (Udaipur Kiran): The black spot rectification project on the Udaipur–Pindwara national highway will undergo a redesign following objections raised by villagers from Jagaliya Mahudi in the Gogunda region. The decision was taken after the intervention of Udaipur MP Dr. Mannalal Rawat, ensuring that the revised design will address local concerns and prevent any inconvenience to residents.

The ₹100 crore project, initiated under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari, aims to reduce road accidents on the busy Udaipur–Pindwara route. Work on several stretches of the project has already commenced.

However, villagers from Jagaliya Mahudi expressed concerns regarding the construction of a culvert (puliya) under the project. They informed MP Dr. Rawat that the structure would disrupt connectivity to Gogunda, making travel difficult. They also warned that the construction could lead to waterlogging in nearby settlements, particularly in the Meghwal and Khatik communities’ localities.

In response, Dr. Rawat held a meeting on Monday with the Project Director of the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), Udaipur, to discuss immediate remedial measures. After detailed deliberations, it was decided that officials would reinspect the site and redesign the project layout to eliminate the issues highlighted by residents.

Dr. Rawat emphasised that the project must be implemented in a way that promotes safety and connectivity without disrupting local livelihoods or causing environmental problems. He assured villagers that their suggestions would be incorporated into the revised design.

The meeting was also attended by BJP Dehat District President Pushkar Teli and several local public representatives, who supported the decision to address the concerns of the Gogunda villagers.
