‘Mewar Bachao Manch’ Concludes First Campaign Successfully, Announces Second Phase Focused on Customer Awareness

Udaipur, October 27 (Udaipur Kiran): The Mewar Bachao Manch has successfully concluded its first major campaign — “Udaipur ka paisa Udaipur mein” — aimed at promoting local shopping and protecting the livelihoods of city traders from the growing dominance of dark stores and instant delivery apps.

Mewar Bachao Manch

According to the organisation, more than 3,000 local traders and over one lakh residents of Udaipur supported the initiative through social media and on-ground participation. The campaign, launched on September 26, received an overwhelming response from the citizens of the Lake City, encouraging many to purchase goods directly from local shops instead of online platforms.

Founder President Abhishek Pandey said that dark stores and instant delivery apps have “shaken the foundation of local trade and employment.” To counter this challenge, Mewar Bachao Manch initiated a people’s movement to encourage community-driven economic responsibility.

During the first phase, the team interacted directly with over 3,000 traders across 22 major markets and collected written pledges based on three key principles — fair pricing, better service, and respectful behaviour. Traders not only pledged support but also committed to providing free home delivery to customers.

To attract youth participation, the organisation launched a ‘Local Hero Contest’, where participants uploaded selfies of themselves shopping at local stores. Each winner received a cash prize of ₹1,000 for supporting the cause.

Second Campaign: “Vyapaari Ka Vaada – Cheezon Ke Daam Kam, Graahak Ki Izzat Zyada”

Building on the success of the first campaign, the organisation has now announced the launch of its second phase, focused on customer awareness. The new campaign will educate residents about the hidden charges in online offers, which often lead to higher overall spending.

Pandey said that awareness drives will be conducted at key city intersections, markets, and tourist spots, where people will be encouraged to support local businesses. A helpline number has also been launched for traders and citizens to share suggestions directly with the organisation.

He added that in the coming months, the Manch plans to expand the initiative beyond trade issues to include topics such as women’s employment, senior citizen safety, cleanliness, education, and digital literacy.

“The idea is to make people realise that the illusion of cheaper online products often leads to bigger losses,” Pandey said, adding that a door-to-door campaign and public interaction drives will soon be launched under the next phase.
