MP Rawat’s Efforts Yield Results: Work Begins to Open CGHS Allopathic Wellness Center in Udaipur City

Over 12,000 families of serving and retired central government employees residing in Mewar-Wagad will benefit.

Udaipur: There’s good news for serving and retired officers and employees of the central government. Thanks to the efforts of MP Dr. Mannalal Rawat, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has initiated the process of opening a Central Government Health Scheme (CGHS) Allopathic Wellness Center in Udaipur city. This center will benefit around 12,500 families of central government employees and pensioners residing in the Udaipur division.

Recently, the Central Government Pensioners Welfare Association organized a program in Udaipur city. During the event, the committee, led by retired BSF Commandant Prahlad Singh Jhala, D.K. Vyas, and Anand Singh Parihar, expressed the concerns of serving and retired central government employees to MP Dr. Mannalal Rawat. They highlighted that despite Udaipur being a medical hub known globally as a tourist city, there is no central government health center in the area. As a result, these employees are unable to benefit from the excellent medical services available in Udaipur.

Without a wellness center, private hospitals and doctors in Udaipur are not affiliated with CGHS, causing difficulties for around 12,500 families of central government employees residing in the tribal regions of Udaipur, Rajsamand, Chittorgarh, Pratapgarh, Banswara, Dungarpur, and Sirohi districts. Even for minor treatments or medical emergencies, they have to travel 250 kilometers to the nearest wellness centers in Ajmer or Ahmedabad, where they can receive referrals.

MP Assured Wellness Center During Monsoon Session

Understanding the concerns of the pensioners, MP Dr. Mannalal Rawat assured them that the experience of pensioners is a valuable asset to society. He promised to make every effort to open a CGHS Wellness Center in Udaipur city during the current monsoon session of the Lok Sabha. Following this, MP Rawat met with Union Health Minister Dr. J.P. Nadda during the Lok Sabha session, highlighting the need for a wellness center in Udaipur and requested immediate approval. On the minister’s instructions, the health directorate has begun the process of establishing this center.

Wellness Centers to Also Open in These Locations

In addition to Udaipur, the process has begun to open wellness centers in Hubli, Karnataka; Vasco-da-Gama, Goa; Sambalpur, Odisha; Kollam, Kerala; and Sahakarnagar, Bangalore (replacing the existing extension counter). The Ministry of Health has requested the additional directors of these cities to provide information about the estimated number of central government employees and pensioners (CGHS beneficiaries) residing in the surrounding areas. They have been asked to submit this information to the central health directorate promptly.
