Meghalaya’s electricity generation jumps to 829.75 kwh

Shillong: The power sector in Meghalaya is on an upward trajectory with electricity generation increasing from 665.38 kwh to 829.75 kwh and as many as 5702 villages being electrified since 2016-17.

As per the statistical handbook of Meghalaya, 2019, published by the Directorate of Economics and Statistics, generation of electricity has increased from 665.38 kwh in the year 2007-2008 to 829.75 kwh in  2016-17.

The report also says that the total installed capacity of power projects in Meghalaya in the year  2016-17  stood at 314.0 MW which  includes  126  MW from Myntdu Leshka Hydro Electric Power Project.
