Maruti Suzuki Ignis Sees Decline in Sales

Mumbai, March 16: Maruti Suzuki’s Ignis has faced a significant drop in sales, with only 1,848 units sold in February 2026, marking a 23% decline compared to the same month last year when 2,394 units were sold. Despite a booming market for hatchbacks, with competitors like the Maruti Suzuki WagonR, Swift, and Baleno selling over 14,000 units, the Ignis has struggled to attract buyers.

The Ignis is known for its unique boxy design and urban appeal, available through Nexa dealerships. It features modern amenities such as LED projector headlamps, a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity, automatic climate control, and push-button start-stop.

In terms of performance, the Ignis is equipped with a 1.2-liter petrol engine that generates 82 bhp and 113 Nm of torque, offering a mileage of approximately 20.89 km/l. It is available with both 5-speed manual and 5-speed AMT transmission options, making it a suitable choice for city driving.

The starting ex-showroom price of the Maruti Suzuki Ignis is around ₹5.35 lakh, going up to ₹7.55 lakh for the top model. Safety features include dual airbags, ABS with EBD, and rear parking sensors, making it a reliable option for small families and young buyers looking for a stylish yet economical city car.
