
Kathmandu, July 24 (Udaipur Kiran) – A plane from Saurya Airlines crashed at Nepal’s Tribhuvan International Airport on Wednesday morning, resulting in 18 fatalities. The Saurya Airlines flight, designated 9N-AME (CRJ 200), took off from Kathmandu for Pokhara at around 11 AM.
The aircraft was carrying 19 people, including technical staff and crew members. The flight crew consisted of Captain Manish Shakya and Co-pilot Sushant Katuwal. The other 17 individuals were Amit Man Maharjan, Sagar Acharya, Dilip Verma, Manu Raj Sharma, Ashwin Niraula, Sudip Lal Joshi, Sarvesh Marseyn, Shyam Bindukar, Navraj Ale, Rajaram Acharya, Priza Katiwada, Adhiraj Sharma, Uddhav Puri, Yagya Prasad Paudwal, Santosh Mahto, Punya Ratna Sahi, and Aref Reda. The police reported that the plane was being transported to Pokhara Regional Airport for maintenance.
According to the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal, the Saurya Airlines CRJ7 (Reg-9NAME) plane took off from Kathmandu for Pokhara at 11:11 AM local time, turned right, and crashed in an area east of the runway. The plane caught fire immediately. Rescue operations began promptly after the crash, and the fire has since been brought under control. Eighteen bodies have been recovered, and one injured person has been rescued and taken to the hospital.
