Jaipur, October 16 (Udaipur Kiran): Kota police have arrested four members of a Maharashtra-based gang accused of cheating elderly women by luring them with fake cash rewards. The arrests were made by the Kishorpura police station team under the special anti-fraud campaign directed by Kota City Superintendent of Police Tejaswani Gautam. Each accused carried a cash reward of ₹10,000.

The arrested accused have been identified as Dilip Shankar Koli (40), resident of Hingoli, and Shivaji Bapurao Koli (35), Santosh Vitthal Kale (30), and Avinash Yadav Kale (25), all residents of Parbhani district in Maharashtra.
According to SP Gautam, the gang operated in an organised manner. Two members would first conduct a survey of areas where elderly or isolated women lived. They would then approach victims with fabricated stories and trick them into parting with their jewellery.
On October 11, the gang members allegedly approached 70-year-old Jagnathi Bai, telling her that women whose sons had recently become fathers were being given ₹2,000 as a reward. They convinced her to accompany them to collect the amount. Once they reached a secluded spot, they asked her to remove her jewellery, saying she would only receive the money after doing so. Believing them, the victim handed over her gold mangalsutra and silver anklets, after which the accused fled the scene.
Following the complaint, a special team led by Station House Officer Bhuri Singh was formed. Using intelligence inputs and technical surveillance, the team tracked down the accused based on their physical descriptions and movement patterns. After extensive efforts, police successfully arrested all four reward-listed suspects involved in the Kota fraud case.
Police said that further interrogation is underway to recover the stolen ornaments and identify other members of the gang. Constables Ashok (Kishorpura police station) and Kartar and Chhotu Lal (Gumanpura police station) played a key role in the operation.
