Shubman Gill moved ahead with a ramp wide of deep third. Mayank’s speed barely crossed 140 kmph in the first over, as he walked off the field straight after completing his first over.

The Titans skipper was dismissed for 19 when he tried to flick across the line. Gill’s team was well-placed at 54 for 1 at the end of the powerplay.

M. Siddarth struggled with his bowling. He overstepped the bowling line three times in his second and fifth overs of the innings but managed to give away only 12 runs. Sudarshan looked in great form after the seventh over, scoring 29 runs off 18 balls.

Ravi Bishnoi took a brilliant return catch to dismiss Titans’ Kane Williamson.

Sai Sudarshan and B.S. Sharath, both fell in Krunal Pandya’s opening over, which turned the game around. Wicket-keeper Sharath, who came in for Wriddhiman Saha, top-edged a sweep over deep backward square, and then Bishnoi took another catch, this time a very easy one at deep square boundary to remove Sudarshan. Sudarshan was the top scorer for his team, scoring 31 runs off 23 balls.

Krunal took his third wicket in the final over of the spell. He finished with three wickets for 11 runs.

LSG was moving very quickly towards closing the match with the golden arm of Yash Thakur when 72 runs were needed off 36 balls. He returned for his second over after dismissing Gill early in the innings and dismissed Rashid Khan (0) for a slow ball down the cover and Vijay Shankar (17) caught while swiping at a short ball.

Rahul Tewatia and Spencer Johnson added 24 runs off 17 balls for the ninth wicket, but Thakur took the final over of his spell and finished with five wickets for 30 runs, dismissing Tewatia (30) and Noor Ahmed (0) in 3.5 overs.

It was his best IPL figures and he also became the first Indian and second overall after Mark Wood to take a five-wicket haul for LSG.

Thanks to Thakur’s five wickets and Pandya’s three wickets, the game was wrapped up quickly and Lucknow defeated Gujarat by 33 runs. This was Lucknow’s first win in five matches.
