Air Quality Improves in NCR Amid Weather Changes

Noida, March 16: The National Capital Region (NCR) has witnessed a significant improvement in air quality due to recent weather changes. The cool winds and clear skies have led to better Air Quality Index (AQI) levels in most areas of Delhi, Noida, and Ghaziabad.

Several locations recorded AQI in the green and satisfactory categories, allowing residents to breathe cleaner air. According to the Central Pollution Control Board and relevant agencies, many monitoring stations in Delhi reported satisfactory AQI levels. Notable readings included 74 in Alipur, 92 in Ashok Vihar, 87 in Aya Nagar, and 86 at Burari Crossing.

Additionally, the Commonwealth Sports Complex recorded an AQI of 95, while CRRI Mathura Road noted 72. However, some areas reported slightly higher levels, such as 117 in Bawana, 116 in the Cantonment area, and 117 in Chandni Chowk, which fall into the moderate category.

In Noida, all four monitoring stations showed improved air quality. Sector-62 recorded an AQI of 70, Sector-125 had 90, Sector-1 noted 85, and Sector-116 recorded 84, all within the satisfactory range, providing residents with fresh air. Ghaziabad also saw improvements, with AQI readings of 80 in Indirapuram, 64 in Sanjay Nagar, and 84 in Vasundhara, all considered satisfactory.

However, the Loni area reported an AQI of 133, which is in the moderate range. The weather department indicates that the current weather in NCR remains clear. The seven-day forecast for the Noida region predicts a minimum temperature of 17 degrees Celsius and a maximum of 27 degrees Celsius on March 16, with mainly clear skies expected. The maximum temperature may rise to 28 degrees on March 17 and 29 degrees on March 18.

Nonetheless, the weather department has indicated that changes may occur again on March 19, with partial cloud cover expected and the possibility of rain or thunderstorms in some areas. Similar predictions for partial cloud cover and light rain are also made for March 20, while March 21 may see generally cloudy conditions with light rainfall.

This change in weather has contributed to a reduction in pollution levels and clearer air. Experts suggest that if the rain and strong winds continue, residents of NCR may continue to benefit from cleaner air in the coming days.
