Bengaluru, March 11 : Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) has given green signal to a full-house capacity at M Chinnaswamy stadium for the pink-ball Test match between India and Sri Lanka, beginning March 12. The KSCA changed the capacity from 50 per cent to a full-house after seeing a surge in demand for tickets. Observing an increased demand, the KSCA sought approval from the state government to allow them a full-house capacity at the stadium. “On the first two days, nearly 10,000 tickets were on offer for the people, but due to surge in the demand for more, we sought government’s permission,” KSCA Treasurer Vinay Mrithyunjaya said. After getting government’s nod, the KSCA has decided to throw open additional tickets from Friday. The city is hosting its first Test since June 2018 when India last played against Afghanistan. However, it hosted an ODI match between India and Australia in 2020. This is the third pink-ball Test taking place in India. Earlier, Kolkata (November 2019) and Ahmedabad (February 2021) had hosted the matches against Bangladesh and England, respectively. On both occasions, India won the matches inside three days. This is the second Test match against Sri Lanka. The first Test at Mohali was won by India by an innings and 222 runs. BDN
