Chennai, Mar 9 : The One man Commission of Inquiry headed by Retired Justice A Arumugaswamy probing the circumstances that led to the death of former Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa has summoned AIADMK co-ordinator and former CM O. Panneerselvam to appear before it on March 21. The Commission has also summoned V.K. Sasikala’s sister-in-law J. Ilavarasi to appear before it on that day. Sources said the summonses had been despatched to them. Mr. Panneerselvam was summoned on several occasions in the past, but he did not appear. In 2019, Mr. Panneerselvam, then Deputy Chief Minister, told the Assembly that he would speak the truth before the Commission. He said on two occassions, the Commission changed the dates [for his appearance], while on two other occasions, he had sought different dates, citing his work load and commitments. The Commission resumed its proceedings after a gap of three years on Monday and since then doctors at the Apollo Hospital, who have treated Ms Jayalalithaa, had deposed before it and gave their statements.
