Lucknow, April 9, 2026 (Udaipur Kiran): Continuous spells of rain, thunderstorms, and hail have persisted across Uttar Pradesh, with the Meteorological Department issuing a rain alert for 44 districts on Thursday. Strong winds reaching speeds of up to 60 kmph are also likely during this period.

Weather conditions remained clear in Lucknow and Varanasi, accompanied by cool winds. In Mathura, light fog was reported in rural areas during the morning hours. Meanwhile, around 10 districts in western Uttar Pradesh, including Agra, witnessed cloudy skies. In eastern regions, a mix of light sunshine and cloud cover was observed.
Late Wednesday evening, hailstorms were reported in six cities, including Bareilly and Saharanpur. In Meerut and Hardoi, heavy hail accumulation covered roads and agricultural fields in a white layer-like formation. In Hardoi, a farmer named Satiram broke down after witnessing crop damage caused by rain, expressing distress over his losses.
Over the past 24 hours, rainfall was recorded in 30 districts across the state. According to the Meteorological Department, the state received an average rainfall of 2.8 mm, which is nearly 200 percent higher than normal levels. The highest temperature in the state was recorded at 38.6 degrees Celsius in Banda.
In Prayagraj, strong winds and heavy rainfall on Wednesday intensified the flow of the Ganga river, leading to the washing away of a pontoon bridge at a ferry ghat.

- April 10: Weather is expected to remain clear across eastern and western Uttar Pradesh, with bright sunshine in some areas. Temperatures may rise by 2 to 3 degrees Celsius.
- April 11: A new western disturbance is likely to become active, which may deteriorate weather conditions across the state. Rain accompanied by strong winds is expected.
- April 12: Weather is likely to remain unsettled in both eastern and western parts, with cloud cover in most districts and chances of heavy rainfall at isolated places.
