Udaipur, May 29 (Udaipur Kiran) – A grand oil portrait of Maharaj Shakti Singh Ji, symbolising the bravery, pride and glorious history of Mewar, has become a major attraction and subject of discussion across Rajasthan during the 484th birth anniversary celebrations of the legendary warrior.

The portrait, created by renowned Mewar artist Dr. Om Prakash Soni of Bijolia, is being described as a remarkable blend of art and history.
While viewing the artwork, Ranadheer Singh Bhinder said the portrait of Maharaj Shakti Singh Ji would be remembered for generations. He described it not merely as a painting, but as a living expression of Mewar’s heroic traditions, sacrifice and self-respect.
The oil painting has been prepared on the basis of historical facts, available portraits of Maharana Pratap and Maharaj Shakti Singh Ji, historical references and years of detailed research and study by Dr. Om Prakash Soni.
The portrait presents the royal personality, bravery, dignity and pride of Maharaj Shakti Singh Ji in a highly impactful and lifelike style. Art lovers who viewed the painting said it appears as though history itself has come alive before the audience.
Historians and art critics from across Rajasthan have praised the artwork and referred to it as a “speaking portrait” of Mewar’s glorious history. They said that just as renowned painter Raja Ravi Varma brought historical characters closer to the people through his paintings, Dr. Om Prakash Soni has revived the golden history of Mewar for the younger generation through this portrait of Maharaj Shakti Singh Ji.
According to experts, the biggest strength of the painting lies in its historical authenticity and emotional depth. The firmness on the face of Shakti Singh Ji, the sharpness in his eyes, the heroic posture and royal aura transport viewers directly into that glorious era.
Organisers said the vision, imagination and deep understanding of the personality of Maharaj Shakti Singh Ji by Ranadheer Singh Bhinder also played a key role in giving the portrait its distinctive historical form.
The ceremony organised on the occasion of the 484th birth anniversary of Maharaj Shakti Singh Ji was attended by MLA Vishvaraj Singh Mewar as chief guest, while MP Mahima Kumari Mewar presided over the programme.
Several prominent nobles of Mewar, historians, art lovers and distinguished citizens of the city were also present at the event.
