Gold Prices Drop Below ₹1.60 Lakh per 10 Grams, Silver Prices Also Decline

New Delhi, March 6: Gold and silver prices saw a decline on Friday, with gold dropping to around ₹1.60 lakh per 10 grams and silver reaching approximately ₹2.60 lakh per kilogram. According to the India Bullion and Jewellers Association (IBJA), the price of 24-carat gold decreased by ₹1,835 to ₹1,58,751 per 10 grams, down from ₹1,60,586 per 10 grams previously. The price of 22-carat gold fell to ₹1,45,416 per 10 grams from ₹1,47,097 per 10 grams, while 18-carat gold is now priced at ₹1,19,063 per 10 grams, down from ₹1,20,440 per 10 grams.

Silver prices also experienced a drop, falling by ₹3,489 to ₹2,60,723 per kilogram, compared to the previous price of ₹2,64,212 per kilogram. In the futures market, gold and silver remained stable, with the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX) reporting a 0.05% increase in the price of gold for the April 2, 2026 contract, now at ₹1,59,757, and a 0.30% increase in silver for the May 5, 2026 contract, now at ₹2,62,990.

Internationally, gold and silver prices showed slight increases, with gold rising by 0.28% to $5,093 per ounce and silver increasing by 0.58% to $82.62 per ounce. Jatin Trivedi of LKP Securities noted that gold on MCX is trading within a limited range of ₹1,59,500 to ₹1,60,000, while it hovers around $5,100 per ounce on COMEX. This indicates that the market is awaiting unemployment and non-farm payroll data from the U.S. He added that support for gold is at ₹1,58,000, with resistance around ₹1,62,000.
