New Delhi, March 12: The Indian cricket team clinched the T20 World Cup 2026 title by defeating New Zealand. Fast bowler Arshdeep Singh believes that the team’s process and self-confidence were key factors for their success on home ground. He mentioned that the team has set a goal to win several trophies in the coming decade. Arshdeep praised Jasprit Bumrah, stating that it seems like he plays as if he is on a computer rather than on the field.
At the Narendra Modi Cricket Stadium in Ahmedabad, India secured their third T20 World Cup trophy by defeating New Zealand by 96 runs in the final. India became the first country to win the T20 World Cup title on home soil. In a video shared by BCCI TV, Arshdeep said, “When we won the T20 World Cup in 2024, I told Hardik Pandya and the team that we need to win at least five trophies in the next ten years.”
Arshdeep emphasized that the team focused on following the process. He stated, “We knew that if we played at that standard, the results would come naturally. We followed the process and tried to back our game.” He also shared his experience of bowling alongside Bumrah.
“Bowling with Bumrah was a lot of fun. Cricket seems very easy for him, and it feels like he is playing on a computer. However, Bumrah’s process is remarkable. He works very hard and inspires us to work hard as well,” Arshdeep noted. Bumrah had an outstanding performance in the T20 World Cup 2026, being one of the highest wicket-takers in the tournament with 14 wickets in 8 matches.
Arshdeep also thanked the fans for their continuous support during the tournament, especially after a match loss. He said, “You all have given us a lot of love. Especially when we lost a match, you supported us a lot, and for that, thank you very much.”
However, Arshdeep’s performance in the tournament was not particularly impressive, as he managed to take only 9 wickets in 8 matches, with an economy rate of 8.46. In the semi-final against England, he took just one wicket while conceding 51 runs in his 4-over spell.
