Israel Strikes Irans Nuclear Site Amid Rising Tensions

Tel Aviv, March 12: The crisis in Central Asia is escalating as Israel claims its air force has targeted another nuclear project in Iran on the 13th day of ongoing tensions. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) reported an attack on the Taleghan site, which is linked to Iran’s nuclear program.

In a post on the X platform, the IDF stated that its air force struck a significant facility associated with Iran’s nuclear ambitions. This attack took place at the Taleghan site, located southeast of Tehran, near the Parchin military complex.

According to the IDF, fighter jets targeted this complex, which was allegedly being used to advance Iran’s nuclear weapons program. It was claimed that this site had also been targeted in October 2024, and Iran had recently attempted to reactivate it.

However, this claim has not been independently verified.

As reported by Reuters, Taleghan is situated approximately 30 kilometers (19 miles) southeast of Tehran. Since the airstrike on Iran, U.S. President Donald Trump has consistently stated that one of the objectives of his military actions was to prevent Iran from developing nuclear weapons.

Tehran has long insisted that its nuclear program is for peaceful purposes. However, in 2002, the discovery of two sites related to uranium enrichment and heavy water plutonium production raised suspicions.

The Israeli military stated that IDF intelligence had identified the Taleghan compound as being used by Tehran for weapon development and testing as part of the ‘Amad’ project, which aimed to develop nuclear weapons and was believed to have been terminated in 2003.

Last week, the Israeli military announced that it had also attacked another nuclear site in Minzadehian, where it claimed scientists were secretly working on essential components for nuclear weapons.
