Former Cricketer Amanpreet Singh Gill Passes Away at 36

New Delhi, May 7: Former Punjab cricketer Amanpreet Singh Gill has passed away at the age of 36 in Chandigarh, leaving the domestic cricket community in mourning. Gill was known as a dedicated medium pacer who shared the dressing room with several prominent Indian cricketers.

Throughout his career, Gill played six first-class matches for Punjab and was part of the Kings XI Punjab in the inaugural season of the Indian Premier League. Even after retiring from the game, he remained involved in cricket, serving as a member of the Punjab senior selection committee.

The Punjab Cricket Association released an official statement expressing their condolences and remembering Gill’s significant contributions to Punjab cricket. They noted that he served the sport with “dedication and passion,” representing India Under-19, the Punjab team, and Kings XI Punjab.

The association extended their sympathies to Gill’s family and loved ones, wishing them strength during this difficult time. Reports indicate that his last rites will be conducted at the Mani Majra crematorium in Chandigarh.

Former Indian all-rounder Yuvraj Singh also paid tribute to his former teammate and friend, describing Gill as a “calm and hardworking cricketer” who had a deep love for the game. Yuvraj shared heartfelt memories of their time together in the dressing room and expressed his condolences to Gill’s family while praying for the peace of his soul.
