Florentino Perez Re-elected as Real Madrid President Until 2030

Madrid, June 8: Florentino Perez will remain the President of Real Madrid until 2030. In a historic election held for the first time in two decades, Perez secured a remarkable victory to retain his position.

According to official data released by the club’s electoral board on Monday morning, the 79-year-old Perez garnered an impressive 65 percent of the total votes cast. He received 21,741 votes from the club’s member-owners (socios), while his challenger, 37-year-old renewable energy entrepreneur Enrique Requeme, received 11,814 votes, accounting for 35 percent of the votes.

The Real Madrid electoral board announced that with 100 percent of in-person and mail-in votes counted, Mr. Florentino Perez’s team won the elections for the President and Board of Directors of Real Madrid. Perez’s total of 21,741 votes represented 65 percent of the total, while Requeme’s team received 11,814 votes, equivalent to 35 percent.

On Sunday, a total of 33,555 members voted in person and via mail at the Real Madrid City Basketball Pavilion. After being re-elected, Perez stated in his speech, “We have won the election and will continue to work to win titles. We won at all polling stations and achieved the second-best result in the history of Real Madrid elections. This is a fantastic outcome.”

Following Perez’s victory, significant changes are anticipated at Real Madrid. His win suggests that Jose Mourinho may be officially announced as the club’s new manager on Monday. Reports indicate that Real Madrid will pay Portuguese club Benfica a release fee of 15 million euros to bring Mourinho back, a promise Perez made during his election campaign. Mourinho previously led Real Madrid to one La Liga title, one Copa del Rey, and one Spanish Super Cup during his three-year tenure.
