Mumbai, March 8 – Bollywood actor Farhan Akhtar, known for his strong advocacy on social issues, has joined hands with the Maharashtra Cyber Police to launch a dedicated helpline for victims of cyberbullying and online abuse.
The initiative, developed in collaboration with the non-profit organization Brush Of Hope, aims to provide immediate assistance to individuals facing cyber threats, particularly vulnerable groups like children and teenagers.

Farhan Akhtar Stresses Need for Cyber Awareness
Speaking at the helpline launch event in Mumbai, the Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara star emphasized the growing dangers of cybercrime and the urgent need for vigilance.
“One of the biggest criminal syndicates today is cybercrime. We all need to stay vigilant and help one another. ‘Brush Of Hope’ has taken an important step, particularly for children who, while growing up, often take risks thinking that nothing will happen. Sometimes, these mistakes lead to serious harm,” Akhtar stated.
He also highlighted the importance of spreading awareness, ensuring that more people are informed and prepared to handle online threats.
“This is a great initiative, and I fully support it. I hope that through this platform, we can amplify awareness and encourage people to seek help when needed,” he added.
Cyberbullying: A Problem That Affects Everyone, Including Celebrities
When asked about celebrities being victims of cyberbullying, Akhtar acknowledged that no one is immune to online abuse.
“Celebrities are human too, and they are not exempt from cyberbullying. It can happen to anyone. That’s why initiatives like the Maharashtra Cyber Cell’s helpline are crucial. It’s reassuring to see a structured system in place where children, men, and women alike can access help when needed,” he noted.
The helpline aims to provide immediate support, guiding victims through the legal and technical steps necessary to protect themselves from online harassment, threats, and abuse.
