Udaipur, January 8 (Udaipur Kiran): Under a special preventive drive, the Excise Department has stepped up action against illegal liquor manufacturing, storage, transport, and sale across Rajasthan. The campaign is being carried out on the instructions of Excise Commissioner Shivprasad Nakate to curb liquor smuggling from other states and illegal activities related to country-made liquor.

As per the directions of the Excise Commissioner, the drive is being conducted under the supervision of Additional Excise Commissioner (Administration) O.P. Jain and Additional Excise Commissioner (Policy) Pradeep Singh Sangawat, following a zero-tolerance policy. Excise enforcement teams across the state are carrying out raids, patrols, and checkpoints, registering cases as per rules after seizing illegal liquor.
In the Kushalgarh area of Banswara district, excise teams destroyed 2,300 litres of wash and seized 111 bottles of illegally distilled liquor during a raid. Two accused were arrested on the spot and cases were registered. In Dholpur’s Bari area, patrol teams seized a motorcycle and a scooter used in illegal liquor activities and recovered illicit liquor from a deep freezer. Two persons were arrested in this case as well.
In Churu district, enforcement action led to the seizure of 141 pouches of country liquor and 17 litres of illicit liquor, while 370 litres of wash were destroyed. In Jaipur district, the Jaipur Rural excise team seized 30 litres of illicit liquor and destroyed 2,700 litres of wash along with three illegal distillation units. Equipment used for liquor manufacturing was also destroyed at the site.
Similarly, in Nagaur district’s Merta City area, raids were conducted in Rawaliyawas, Kitalsar, Chanda Run, Mithadiya Kala, Chuva, Chuhi, and Saju villages. During these operations, 700 litres of wash were destroyed and 15 litres of illegal liquor were seized. Intensive checks were also carried out at roadside dhabas and hotels along the highway.
