Jaipur, February 13 (Udaipur Kiran): The State Election Commission has taken an important decision regarding the General Elections–2026 of Panchayati Raj Institutions.

State Election Commissioner Rajeshwar Singh said that elections for all wards of Zila Parishads and Panchayat Samitis will be conducted through Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs). However, elections for Sarpanch and Ward Panch in Gram Panchayats will be held through ballot papers.
He informed that under Rule 35 of the Rajasthan Panchayati Raj (Election) Rules, 1994, there is a provision to conduct voting through both EVMs and ballot papers in Panchayati Raj elections. As per the rules, the State Election Commission has the authority to take a decision based on prevailing circumstances.
The Commissioner stated that the decision has been taken to make the election process more simple, transparent and systematic. The Commission has directed all concerned election officers and personnel to complete necessary preparations in accordance with the prescribed व्यवस्था to ensure smooth conduct of the elections.
A detailed notification regarding the election schedule is likely to be issued soon by the Commission.
