Mumbai, October 25 (Daily Kiran) — Milap Milan Zaveri’s romantic drama ‘Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat’ has crossed the ₹25 crore mark at the domestic box office in its first four days, maintaining a steady performance despite facing tough competition from Ayushmann Khurrana’s horror-comedy ‘Thamma’.

Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat

According to early estimates by Sacnilk, the Harshvardhan Rane and Sonam Bajwa starrer earned ₹7.75 crore on Wednesday, ₹6 crore on Thursday, and around ₹3.05 crore on Friday (Day 4), taking its total domestic collection to ₹25.8 crore net.

Fair Weekend Hold Despite Dip

After a strong Diwali release on October 21, the film saw a slight dip after its opening day but continues to hold a fair ground over its first weekend. Viewers have praised its emotional intensity, melodious music, and chemistry between the lead pair. However, some critics have noted that the film’s portrayal of “toxic obsession” dampens its otherwise engaging storyline.

‘Thamma’ Continues to Dominate

Meanwhile, ‘Thamma’, starring Ayushmann Khurrana and Rashmika Mandanna, continues its strong run at the box office, having collected ₹55.10 crore so far. The film opened to ₹24 crore on Diwali day, followed by ₹18.6 crore on day two and ₹12.5 crore on day three.

Actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui, who plays the antagonist Yakshasan in ‘Thamma’, expressed his gratitude to fans, telling IANS,

“I’m very grateful that audiences are appreciating my character Yakshasan in ‘Thamma’. I just focus on my work, and when people connect with it, it feels truly rewarding.”

A Story of Passion and Obsession

‘Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat’ delves into the themes of love, passion, and obsession, with Harshvardhan Rane delivering one of his most intense performances. Sonam Bajwa’s emotionally layered portrayal has also received appreciation, especially among young audiences drawn to romantic dramas.

As the weekend progresses, the film’s performance will depend on its ability to sustain momentum against ‘Thamma’, which continues to dominate multiplexes across major cities.
