New Delhi : Former Congress President Rahul Gandhi has questioned the Bharatiya Janata Party government in Gujarat over the deaths due to spurious liquor. He said that the drug trade continues in Gujarat indiscriminately which has led to destruction of many houses.

Congress MP Rahul Gandhi tweeted on Friday that many houses in Gujarat have been destroyed by drinking spurious liquor. He question if Gujarat is a dry state, how is liquor being sold there? He said that some time back a huge quantity of drugs was also recovered in Gujarat. It is a matter of great concern that drug trade is taking place on the land of Bapu and Sardar Patel.
About 40 people have died due to drinking spurious liquor in Gujarat. Congress on Friday has demanded a judicial inquiry into the deaths. Party Spokesperson Pawan Khera said that the matter should be investigated under the supervision of the sitting judge of the High Court, only then will the victim’s family get justice. Khera said his party’s demand is that the government should immediately announce compensation for the next of kin of the deceased and free treatment for the hospitalised people.
