New Delhi, November 5 (Udaipur Kiran) — Portuguese football legend Cristiano Ronaldo has hinted that his illustrious playing career may soon come to an end. The 40-year-old forward, currently with Al Nassr, said he is nearing the “final stage” of his football journey and that retiring from the game will be an “emotional moment.”

In a candid interview with Piers Morgan Uncensored, Ronaldo opened up about his retirement plans and life beyond football.
“Soon… but I’ll be ready,” Ronaldo said. “It will be hard, yes — I might even cry. I’m an emotional person. But I’ve been preparing for my future since I was 25 or 26, so I’m confident I’ll handle it well.”
One of the most successful players in football history, Ronaldo has scored 952 career goals so far. He said he now wants to devote more time to his family and personal interests once he hangs up his boots.
“The adrenaline of scoring goals — nothing compares to it,” he said. “But everything has a beginning and an end. Now I want to spend more time with my family and children. Cristiano Jr. is at an age where kids make mistakes, and I want to guide him. Mateo also loves football.”
Ronaldo added that he has recently started enjoying playing padel with his friends.
Having begun his professional career with Sporting Lisbon, Ronaldo went on to represent some of the biggest clubs in world football — Manchester United, Real Madrid, and Juventus.
During his decorated career, Ronaldo won three Premier League titles and a Champions League trophy with Manchester United, followed by two La Liga and four Champions League titles with Real Madrid.
After leaving Manchester United in 2022, he joined Saudi Arabian club Al Nassr, where he continues to play. Despite moving on, Ronaldo said he still follows United’s progress closely, especially under new manager and his former Portuguese teammate Ruben Amorim.
“He’s doing his best, but no one can perform miracles,” Ronaldo said. “The team has talent, but some players must understand what Manchester United truly stands for. The club will always be in my heart, but the truth is — they’re not on the right path. Change is needed — not just in the coach or players, but in the entire system.”
A five-time Ballon d’Or winner and one of the greatest players of all time, Ronaldo’s eventual retirement will mark the end of an era in global football.
