New Delhi, September 30 (Udaipur Kiran): TKR roped in local off-spinner Bryan Charles as Dwayne Bravo’s replacement for the remaining CPL 2024.
Bravo had announced his retirement from all forms of cricket on Thursday after his stint in CPL 2024 was cut short by a back injury. He sustained the injury while trying to catch Kings captain Faf du Plessis during the seventh over at Tarouba.
Charles is a Trinidad and Tobago domestic cricket player but hasn’t played official T20 yet. Known for his red-ball skills, he recently featured in the West Indies Test squad as they hosted South Africa in their home Test series early this year.
Charles was the wicket-taker for Trinidad and Tobago in the four-day championship of the West Indies where he took 31 wickets with an average of 17 in seven matches. Included in that tally was a career-best 13 wickets against Jamaica in Kingston in April.
Charles could be a replacement for Sunil Narine, who has been absent from TKR’s last three matches due to a quad complaint. TKR’s final home game of the season saw injured Narine absent and off-spinner Tim David used with the new ball by captain Kieron Pollard against Barbados Royals on Friday. The Royals are amongst the favorites of going all the way, so to speak and would mean that TKR might play them in an eliminator, and if Narine isn’t fit for the playoffs, Charles will be in contention for selection.
