BCCI Extends IPL Retention Deadline to November 17
The BCCI has extended the IPL player retention deadline to November 17, allowing teams more time ahead of the mini-auction.

GOA, Nov 3: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has postponed the player retention deadline for IPL franchises to November 17. The original deadline was set for November 15. This extension provides teams with additional time to finalize their player lists before the mini-auction scheduled in Goa on December 16.
The adjustment comes as the fifth ODI match between India and New Zealand is also taking place on November 15, prompting the BCCI to allow franchises more time to manage their rosters.
The IPL mini-auction in December will be the last opportunity for teams to make player changes before the next mega auction anticipated for the 2028 season. According to sources, player registration began on November 2 and will conclude on November 23. Teams must submit their final player lists by December 1, with the final auction register to be released on December 3.
Two player trades have occurred recently, including Rishabh Pant returning to Delhi Capitals from Lucknow Super Giants in exchange for Kuldeep Yadav, and fast bowler T Natarajan moving to Sunrisers Hyderabad for leg-spinner Zeeshan Ansari.
With a busy cricket calendar, including India’s match against Sri Lanka on the same day as the auction, the BCCI has confirmed that the auction date will remain unchanged.
