The accused ASI, posted at Pratapnagar police station in Udaipur, was produced before a judge at the judge’s residence, following which the ACB received permission for further interrogation and investigation.

The ACB has also widened the scope of the investigation and conducted a late-night search at the accused’s residence in Shobhagpura on Sunday. Officials examined documents and scrutinised records related to property, income, and financial transactions. Sources said the team is also investigating the gap between the accused’s declared income and actual assets.

The ACB had arrested Sunil Vishnoi on Sunday evening while allegedly accepting the bribe amount in the parking area of Orbit Resort in Shobhagpura. The trap operation was carried out under the supervision of ACB Additional SP Anant Kumar.

According to the complaint received by the ACB, the accused ASI allegedly threatened the complainant with registering serious charges, including attempt to rape and molestation, if the bribe amount was not paid. After verification of the complaint, the ACB laid a trap. Around 4:30 pm on Sunday, the complainant was allegedly called to the Orbit Resort parking area, where the accused accepted Rs 1 lakh before being caught red-handed by the ACB team.

Officials said the accused tried to defend himself during the operation, but he was immediately taken into custody.

During the investigation, it also emerged that the ASI had earlier faced several controversies. Complaints had reportedly been made against him over alleged irregularities in investigations, releasing accused persons in serious cases, and intimidating people by claiming influence within the police department. He had previously been suspended while serving as a head constable due to complaints against him.

Even after being promoted as ASI, disciplinary action was reportedly taken against him in separate cases. In one matter, he was attached to the police lines, while in another he was shifted from the police station to the DSP office over allegations of negligence.

The accused was also active on social media and reportedly had around 51,000 followers on Instagram, where he regularly posted reels and videos in police uniform. He had also appeared in the film “Sagwan”, based on a well-known case from Pratapgarh district, where he played the role of a police officer fighting crime and superstition.

Following the bribery arrest, the matter has drawn widespread discussion both within police circles and on social media. The ACB is now questioning the accused to investigate whether he was involved in illegal collections in other cases during his service tenure, while also examining his assets and income sources.
