Dhamtari, 18 November (Udaipur Kiran). Winter has tightened its grip on Chhattisgarh’s Dhamtari district as temperatures continue to fall sharply. Entering the second week of November, the region has come under the influence of a cold wave, with minimum temperatures dipping to 13°C and daytime temperatures hovering around 26°C. The increasing chill has begun to disrupt daily life.

According to the Meteorological Department, dense fog starts settling over the region after 5:30 pm, making evenings and late nights much colder than mornings. People are hesitating to step out without proper winter clothing. To cope with the severe cold, residents across urban and rural areas are lighting bonfires at street corners, markets and outside their homes. Groups of people can be seen gathering around fires to stay warm.
With temperatures falling steadily, the demand for winter clothing has surged in local markets. Sales of sweaters, woollen caps, mufflers and jackets have increased noticeably.
The department said weather changes began in the first week of November, leading to a continuous drop in temperatures. Further rise in cold conditions is expected in the coming days.
Authorities have advised residents to remain cautious, use adequate warm clothing and avoid stepping out late at night unless necessary.
