Jaipur, May 3: A violent clash erupted between two groups in the village of Paliyakhedi in the Bhawanimandi area of Rajasthan’s Jhalawar district, resulting in four injuries. The altercation was reportedly triggered by an elopement incident involving a girl from Kandal Khedi village and a boy from Harishpur village.
According to reports, members of the girl’s family attacked the boy’s relatives, leading to a physical confrontation that included both men and women. During the chaos, one group also set fire to a shop, destroying its contents. The injured individuals were rushed to the district hospital for treatment.
Police stated that the girl’s family had filed a complaint earlier that morning, prompting a meeting among community leaders to resolve the issue. However, tensions escalated during the meeting, resulting in the girl’s family storming the boy’s relatives’ home, vandalizing property, and attacking those present.
Emergency services, including police and fire brigades, arrived at the scene to control the situation and extinguish the fire. Currently, the situation is reported to be under control, with police deployed in the village.
Injured individuals, including Leelabai, Padma, Ishwar, and Sabba, are receiving medical care. One of the injured, Ishwar, recounted, “We had gone to meet guests in Paliyakhedi when the fight broke out. I was also attacked while trying to intervene.” Padma added that they were assaulted with wooden sticks and stones by the attackers from the other village.
