Bears Trade for Defensive Tackle Jeffery Simmons from Titans
The Chicago Bears traded two first-round picks for Jeffery Simmons, a move aimed at enhancing their defense and playoff aspirations.

CHICAGO, Oct 31: The Chicago Bears traded two first-round picks and a fourth-round pick to the Tennessee Titans for defensive tackle Jeffery Simmons.
Simmons described receiving the trade news as emotional, expressing concern for his family, especially his young daughter. He has a history with Bears defensive end Montez Sweat from their college days, which adds familiarity as he joins the team.
Bears defensive coordinator Dennis Allen praised Simmons’ skills and football character. He noted that integrating Simmons into the defense will be gradual as they assess his adjustment and understanding of the system.
Guard Jonah Jackson remarked on Simmons’ prowess, stating, “He’s a dynamic player. You have to know where he is at all times.” Simmons, currently tied for fifth in sacks among defensive linemen, is expected to enhance the Bears’ overall defensive pressure.
General manager Ryan Poles acknowledged that this move diverges from his usual conservative approach to trading draft picks. He emphasized the importance of having an impactful player like Simmons and believes he will contribute positively to both performance and team culture.
Poles recognized the risks of trading future picks but felt it was necessary to capitalize on the team’s current momentum. He expressed confidence in making the most of the remaining draft capital.
Simmons understands the significance of the trade, stating, “My game, my passion, my energy, my leadership, I can only help this team even more than what it’s got.” He feels excited to contribute to the Bears’ championship aspirations.
As the Bears prepare for their upcoming matchup against the Seattle Seahawks, Simmons is expected to join the defensive line alongside veteran Grady Jarrett, creating a more formidable presence in the interior of the defense.
