New Delhi, 14 November (Udaipur Kiran)। The counting of votes for the by-elections held on eight Assembly seats across seven states — Jammu & Kashmir, Rajasthan, Jharkhand, Telangana, Punjab, Mizoram and Odisha — will take place today. The results of the Bihar Assembly Election will also be declared today.
According to the Election Commission of India, counting will begin at 8 AM for the following seats: Budgam and Nagrota in Jammu & Kashmir, Anta in Rajasthan, Ghatsila in Jharkhand, Jubilee Hills in Telangana, Tarn Taran in Punjab, Dampa in Mizoram and Nuapada in Odisha.
Among these, the Budgam seat in Jammu & Kashmir drew the most attention. The by-election was held following the resignation of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah. He had won from both Ganderbal and Budgam in the 2024 Assembly polls but chose to retain Ganderbal, leading to the by-election in Budgam. A total of 20 candidates were in the fray from Budgam.
The National Conference fielded Agha Mahmood, the PDP nominated Agha Syed Muntazir, while the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) placed its bet on Syed Mohsin.
