However, this is only a stepping stone for BSNL. After achieving the 1 lakh 4G site milestone, the telecom giant will focus on deeper coverage and further network enhancements. The next big leap is the rollout of 5G technology, which will also be supported by Indian tech companies.
BSNL’s 4G to 5G Transition Plans
BSNL’s deployed 4G technology is future-ready and can be upgraded to 5G NSA (Non-Standalone) with a simple software update, similar to what Airtel has done across India. However, BSNL is also testing 5G SA (Standalone) with Indian technology providers, with initial trials planned in New Delhi.
While BSNL has not yet confirmed if it will immediately transition to 5G SA, its 4G expansion is progressing rapidly. With the continued support of Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) and other Indian firms, BSNL is well-positioned to transition seamlessly into 5G.
BSNL 4G: Affordable and Widespread Connectivity
BSNL remains committed to keeping its services affordable. Despite the ongoing 4G expansion, the company has no immediate plans to increase tariffs, ensuring that customers continue to enjoy cost-effective mobile services.
