(Udaipur Kiran News) — Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has significantly expanded its 4G network across Tamil Nadu, commissioning 7,500 new towers under its latest rollout phase. The expansion has been supported by the Universal Service Obligation Fund (USOF), now known as Digital Bharat Nidhi (DBN).

This move aligns with the Government of India’s vision to bridge the digital divide and enhance rural connectivity, while strengthening BSNL’s market share against private telecom operators.

Nationwide Rollout with Indigenous Technology

BSNL has successfully commissioned over 98,000 4G sites across India, using homegrown technology developed under the Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative. This self-reliant approach not only boosts India’s telecom infrastructure but also ensures data sovereignty and cost efficiency.

The state-run telecom giant expects to see a sharp increase in its subscriber base following the rollout, with improved network coverage and faster internet speeds across both urban and rural areas.

4G Launch and Future Plans

Prime Minister Narendra Modi officially launched BSNL’s 4G services on September 27, 2025, marking a major milestone in the company’s revival strategy.

With 4G expansion now underway, BSNL is gearing up for its 5G launch in Mumbai and Delhi by December 2025. The combination of affordable tariffs and enhanced network speeds is expected to attract users, particularly as private operators continue raising tariffs.

Conclusion:
BSNL’s aggressive 4G expansion in Tamil Nadu, powered by Digital Bharat Nidhi, marks a crucial step toward universal digital access. With 5G on the horizon and a growing footprint across India, the telecom PSU is poised for a strong comeback in the Indian telecom market.
