New Delhi, May 9: A significant chapter in West Bengal’s political landscape has unfolded as the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) prepares to take power for the first time following the 2026 assembly election results. The BJP has secured a commanding majority with 207 seats, effectively ending the 15-year rule of the Trinamool Congress (TMC).
The party is set to form the government on Saturday, igniting a wave of enthusiasm among its leaders and supporters. BJP National President Nitin Naveen took to social media platform ‘X’ to describe this moment as a “new dawn of trust.” He expressed that the first rays of the rising sun in West Bengal bring new hope and confidence.
In his message, Naveen emphasized that the people of West Bengal can now trust in development, security, women’s respect, job opportunities for the youth, and the establishment of good governance in the state. He also noted that the public has shown faith in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, which has paved the way for the new government to take oath in West Bengal. He concluded his post with “Vande Mataram.”
The BJP legislative party has elected Suvendu Adhikari as its leader, making him the first BJP Chief Minister of West Bengal. Notably, he has sent a strong political message by defeating TMC chief Mamata Banerjee in her stronghold of Bhawanipur by over 15,000 votes.
This marks the first time since the formation of the state that the BJP will hold power in West Bengal, reiterating its commitment to the vision of ‘Sonar Bangla.’
