Udaipur : On the occasion of Big Bird Day, experts from WWF-India conducted bird counting and eco trails in 8 different locations across 6 districts of Rajasthan.
Bird Count Details:
- Udaipur: 84 bird species were recorded at Fateh Sagar and Rani Road by bird experts Vinay Dave, Sharad Aggarwal, Hitesh Shrimal, and bird lovers Deepak Kalra, Shafeeq Ahmed, Manjari Arya, Naval Shah, and team members.
- Jodhpur: 60 bird species were recorded at Olvi Pond. Dr. Renu Kohli, Assistant Director of College Education, Jodhpur, prepared the checklist.
- Jaipur: 41 bird species were recorded at Baadkheda.
- Rajsamand: 54 bird species were recorded at the Irrigation Garden by Himanshu Singh, Narendra Paliwal, and Narayan Singh.
- Chittorgarh: 32 bird species were recorded at Bhopalsagar by Ujjwal Dadhich and team. 20 bird species were recorded at Badwai Talab by Bheru Lal Shrimal and Om Prakash Shrimal’s team.
- Dungarpur: 34 bird species were recorded at the Government Veer Bala Kalibai Complex in Sagwara by Mukesh Panwar, Venika Panwar, Pankaj Swarnakar, and team.
Bird Species Spotted:
A large number of local and migratory birds were spotted during the event, including Black-tailed Godwit, Garganey, Common Coot, Common Teal, Comb Duck, Gadwall, Common Snipe, Little Ring Plover, Black Wing Stilt, Spot-billed Duck, White Throat, Pied Kingfisher, River Tern, Heron, Open Bill Stork, Cormorant, Lesser Whistling Duck, Grey Headed Swamp Hen, White Naped Tit, White Throated Kingfisher, Coppersmith Barbet, Indian Grey Hornbill, Taiga Flycatcher, and Small Minivet.
This event aimed to raise awareness about bird conservation and the importance of their habitats. It also provided an opportunity for people to connect with nature and learn about the diverse birdlife in Rajasthan.
