Udaipur, May 19 (Udaipur Kiran) — Serious allegations have been levelled against Bhupalpura police station in Udaipur over alleged illegal detention, custodial assault, and procedural violations involving a minor. The victims’ families and advocates have submitted a detailed memorandum to Superintendent of Police Amrita Duhan seeking strict action against Station House Officer Adarsh Kumar and other police personnel.

According to the complaint, police allegedly detained youths illegally at the police station, assaulted them, forced them to clean toilets and bathrooms after making them remove their clothes, delayed medical examination, and presented a minor as an adult before a tehsildar court.
The matter escalated after advocates claimed that police recorded the minor’s age as 18 years without verification and prepared to present him before a tehsildar instead of the Juvenile Justice Board. The alleged discrepancy reportedly came to light after lawyers produced the youth’s Aadhaar card.
As per the complaint, on May 15 around 7:30 pm, police personnel Vijay Singh and Kamlendra Singh reached a shop and asked the youths to accompany them for questioning. The victims alleged that assault began inside the police vehicle itself while they were being taken from the Sevashram area to Bhupalpura police station.
The victims further alleged that they were taken into a room inside the police station where doors were shut and curtains drawn before SHO Adarsh Kumar and other police personnel allegedly assaulted them. They claimed they were beaten with kicks and punches, had their hair pulled, and were later locked inside the detention room.
According to the memorandum, the youths were later forced to clean the police station premises, including toilets and bathrooms. The victims alleged that they faced mental and physical harassment throughout the night and that their families were neither informed nor told the grounds for detention.
During the course of the matter, police personnel and family members later reached the private residence of Girwa Tehsildar Jabbar Singh Charan, where bail formalities for the adult youth were completed. After the minor’s age was clarified, the tehsildar reportedly refused to process bail proceedings for him. Bhupalpura police later released the minor to his maternal uncle after completing formalities at the police station.
The victims also alleged that police deliberately delayed medical examination to prevent injury marks and allegations of assault from coming on record. According to the complaint, medical examination was conducted nearly 45 hours later after continuous objections and pressure from advocates.
