Chandigarh, May 19: In response to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s appeal for fuel conservation amid the global energy crisis, Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini took to cycling on Tuesday. He rode to the rainwater-filled Sukna Lake and then embarked on his morning walk.
A government spokesperson informed that during his walk, CM Saini interacted with the public, promoting the message of ‘Healthy India, Healthy Haryana.’ He urged citizens to support PM Modi’s call for fuel conservation.
The Chief Minister also called on the opposition to join hands in fulfilling the commitment to a ‘Developed India.’ He mentioned that in Haryana, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) have been issued to conserve fossil fuels, tailored to meet the needs of the administration.
CM Saini further stated, “We have decided to adopt options like virtual meetings and ‘work from home.'” Last week, he initiated a significant step by halving the number of vehicles in his convoy to save fuel, protect the environment, and promote balanced resource usage. The spokesperson noted that only essential vehicles were retained in the convoy for safety reasons.
The Chief Minister has also committed to working one day a week without using any vehicle. He encouraged public representatives and officials to set an example and convey a positive message to society.
He directed all ministers and departmental officials to ensure limited vehicle usage during travel. CM Saini appealed to officials and the general public to participate in this fuel-saving campaign by maximizing the use of public transport.
He emphasized that energy conservation is the responsibility of every citizen, stating that if everyone makes small efforts, it can significantly contribute to both fuel savings and environmental protection.
